I know that some of you are aware of the situation in my hometown, but in case you're not familiar with the situation, I will explain it.
I'm from Wilmington, Ohio. It's a small farming community that is between Dayton and Cincinnati. In 2003, German air cargo carrier DHL chose to open a new hub at Wilmington's air park. The air park was a source of employment to over 8,000 of our town's 12,000 residents and about 10, 000 people worked at DHL. In January of this year, DHL decided to shut down the operations at the park and all 10,000 people lost their jobs (including my Dad).
Here is a video about the situation from 60 Minutes www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu0Fl8UbSn0
(I cry every time I watch it, because I know all of those people  )
As the video showed, people are literally struggling to keep food on the table. I volunteer at Sugartree Ministries when I'm at home on break, and I know that now they feed over 200 people a day (and are struggling to do it).
The "Grow Food, Grow Hope" Garden Initiative is a program that would benefit the residents by expanding community gardens and by growing bulk produce for area food banks. Tom's of Maine is giving away 5 $20,000 grants to different community projects. The voting ends in 9 days and Grow Food Grow Hope is only 2 spots away from being in the top five. PLEASE go to the website and vote for "Grow Food, Grow Hope Garden Initiative" in Wilmington, OH (Its under the Community tab).

If you would go there and vote, it would mean the world to me (as well as many other people if we won).
